The tragedy that happened 20 years ago today was utterly heartbreaking and altered so many families forever. Today as we think of and pray for continued healing and peace for these families, it is such a great comfort Psalm 34:18 reminds us that “the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
To both honor those who lost their lives by making the ultimate sacrifice to stop people wishing harm upon so many others and the sacrifice Jesus also made to save us from and eternity without our loving infinitely God, let’s treasure each day by self sacrificially loving, caring for, and protecting others no matter what our preference or opinion may be in that moment.
Because none of us is promised tomorrow, let’s take every opportunity to grow in Christ’s likeness and practice the words He lived out: “greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (James 4:13-15, John 15:13).
